About The IIT JEE

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), formerly known as the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is a computer-based national-level entrance test for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering, architecture, and planning across various colleges in India. It is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and serves as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Additionally, JEE Main is the gateway to admission in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2025

  1. Nationality:
    • Open to Indian citizens, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs, and foreign nationals.
  2. Age Limitation:
    • No age limit, provided candidates have completed Class 12 in 2023, 2024, or will complete it in 2025.
  3. Number of Attempts:
    • Candidates can attempt JEE Main twice in 2025 (January and April). Candidates who completed Class 12 before 2022 or after 2024 are not eligible.
  4. Minimum Marks Requirement:
    • General Category: Minimum of 75% in Class 12 or top 20 percentile in their board exams.
    • Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC): Minimum of 65%.
  5. Subject Requirements for Each Course:
    • Tech: Physics, Mathematics, and one additional subject (Chemistry/Biology/Technical).
    • Arch (Paper 2A): Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
    • Plan (Paper 2B): Mathematics.

JEE Main 2024 Syllabus

The JEE Main syllabus, based on the NCERT curriculum for Classes 11 and 12, covers key concepts and advanced topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It is aimed at testing knowledge, application skills, and problem-solving abilities. The updated syllabus for 2025 will be released on the official website; candidates are advised to refer to the previous year’s syllabus for preparation.

About JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is the second phase of the Joint Entrance Examination, reserved for the topperforming candidates in JEE Main. It is conducted to secure admission to IITs and other prestigious institutions.

  1. Conducting Body: One of the IITs on a rotational basis.
  2. Eligibility: Only top-scoring candidates from JEE Main are eligible to appear.
  3. Mode of Exam: Computer-based test with a more complex question structure, testing deep understanding and advanced problem-solving skills.
  4. Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a varied marking scheme.
  5. Attempt Limit: Maximum of two consecutive years after Class 12 completion.
  6. Syllabus: Advanced topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, often extending beyond the Class 12 syllabus.
